Lukas Ingold is an architect and lecturer at ETH Zurich.

He was trained as an architectural draftsman (2000-2005) and studied architecture at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BA 2006-2009) and at ETH Zurich (MSc 2009-2012). He completed his doctorate at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Joseph Schwartz (2016-2021). Practical experience he gained in different architectural offices, among others with Christian Kerez in Zurich (2012-2014).

At ETH Zurich, he teaches and researches with Prof. Dr. Joseph Schwartz in the field of structural design, first as a scientific assistant (2014-2018) and afterwards as a lecturer (since 2018). Furthermore, he taught courses at the Institute for History and Theory of Architecture gta (2018-2019) for Prof. Dr. Laurent Stalder.

His research activities refer to a wide range of topics. The research interest revolves around the conception of structures, the investigation of construction technologies, and the development of infrastructure systems. In addition, his research interest also focuses on topics related to the history of architecture and engineering, particularly the multifaceted construction activities during the postwar period in Italy and the work of Sergio Musmeci.

His research projects have been supported by various grants, including fellowships from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), the Istituto Svizzero di Roma (ISR), and the Bund Schweizer Architektinnen und Architekten (BSA).
